Juvenile Social Obedience Classes

Have you had that cute little cuddly a few months now and it is showing signs of becoming a bit of a monster? Finally a class for our juvenile young dog to learn some obedience, expand social skills, or to catch up on the puppy class that was missed.

Traditionally puppy classes are for dogs from 8 to 16 weeks and obedience classes normally take dogs over 6 months old. So where do I go in between? Need something now, as the dog is a handful, with limited social skills?

Try the new Juvenile Social Obedience Classes run by K9Coach (who has been running weekly puppy classes for many years). Our classes are small & informal and have a strong focus on good social skills in young dogs.

Attendance is open to dogs from 18 weeks to 12 months old. Your dog needs some basic social skills [isn’t dog or people aggressive] and is required to have full and current C5 immunisation, council registration and use of the right training equipment. This course is not recommended for dogs displaying antisocial tendencies and if unsure, we may need to do a suitability evaluation if your dog is really out of control, except if you are referred and verified by your Vet. Suitability evaluations may incur some extra costs.

The course is fun and builds on your young dog’s desire to play and learn as it develops. Shy dogs will get more confidence and the boisterous ones will learn some control. The full course runs continuously and dogs may attend as many classes as needed. Come for a single visit or multiple sessions, whatever suits as this is an added challenge for your dog.

To maximise learning we recommend on handler per dog and one assistant. Children of 10 years and over are welcome. No more than 2 people per dog.

Build your OWN Obedience Class - SUNDAY 11 am
This special Sunday course is run in conjunction with students of the Australian DogTrainers Academy - the ADTA trains people to become professional, caring, reward based dog trainers. All training and students are supervised by the K9Coach principal and head trainer. This one-hour Basic Obedience class includes issues like - sit, walk to heel, drop and recall and socialisation. However EVERY week the class will focus on a different subject that will help owner /dog to have a better balanced relationship. Specials include:3/10 Not snapping; 10/10 Not Jumping; 17/10 Socialisation (People/Dogs); 24/10 Through the door or gate; 31/10 Noise desensitize; 7/11 Leash pulling and remedies; 14/11 Socialisation (People/Dogs); 21/11 Socialisation (People/Dogs). NB: Any session that suits you only $20.00 - OR book four (4) sessions of your choice and only pay $75.00.

Requirements: Access to a reasonably well socialised dog from 5 months and older - and contact our office if unsure. Small classes to allow student trainers to assist with the training during these sessions, supervised by head trainer of K9C at all times. Classes start on time unless weather reaches above 30C, please contact the office. If required the office may make recommendations for rescheduling due to weather. Whilst these classes have an obedience angle, emphasis on social skills are high.
Disclaimer: All dogs need to be properly immunized and have valid C5 certificate to support this. Dogs on soft collars and leash only - no extendable leashes or chokers please. Head collars are welcomed. Where required change of equipment may be recommended prior to attendance of or during the class. NB: All courses need to be prepaid and are subject to minimum numbers to proceed. Where needed consolidation with another class will be considered to ensure viability. Some flexibility requested please. NB: Any session that suits you only $20.00 - OR book four (4) sessions of your choice and only pay $75.00.

JUVENILE CLASS - WED
Our classes are SMALL & informal and have a strong foucs on good social skills in young dogs. This 4-week program includes many fun things like: dog to dog socialisation - dogs to human socialisation - traffic and noise desensitization - door & gate desensitization and expanded obedience skills in sit stay, recall, walk to heel, how to calm your dog and games that stimulate the mind of your dog. Problem solving and much more. The course is fun and builds on your young dog's desire to play and learn as it develops. Shy dogs will get more confidence and boisterous ones will learn some control. Our coaching techniques are reward based - and easy on dog @ handler. NB; ALL COURSES NEED TO BE PREPAID. No reservation can be held without full prepayment. Use our secure online payment system.
